INTRODUCTION:
FLAME PROOF motor are manufactured to serve
the industries such as, coalmines, refineries, Petrochemical industries etc.,
where inflammable gases, vapours, fumes and coal dust are a natural atmospheric
hazards. The motors comply with Indian standard
Specifications
IS :2148/1981 for Gas Groups I, IIA & IIB.
These motors can be used in all division
I and certain division II Areas as laid down in guide for selection of electrical
equipment in hazardous areas as per IS
: 5571 –1079.
DESIGN FEATURES:
The flameproof enclosure consist of sturdy cast
iron parts which are mechanically robust and very liberally designed .The cost
Iron enclosure of the motor is built to
withstand any internal explosion. The gaps of joints and where the shaft passes
through the are so dimensioned as the prevent transmission of igniting flame
to the surrounding atmosphere. The motors so designed that the frame temperature
will remain below the ignition temperature of the gas-air mixture involved.
All cast iron parts forming the flameproof enclosure
are tested at 14 kg/cm2 (10kg/cm2. required) hydraulic pressure. All the
seats of joints are carefully machined
to strict tolerances and rigidly inspected to ensure that permissible gaps are
not exceeded.
CABLE ENTRIES:
Motors can be supplied with either conduit
entry or cable entry system. Cable is suitable for paper insulated lead covered
double wire armoured (‘PILCDWA’) Cables,
cable entry with FLP cable glands can also be provided to suit PVC armoured
mining cable.
PERFORMANCE:
Performance is as per Indian standard specifications
IS:3682-966 for motors used in underground mines and IS:325-1978 for other Industrial
application.
RANGE:
The motor are available up to 25 HP/18.5
kW with various standard polarities. Motor up to 30 HP (22kW) are under approval
and will be available shortly. They are
available with std. Supply voltage i.e. 400/440 V at 50 Hzs or any other special
voltage and/or frequency on request.
MOUNTING:
Standard mounting arrangements are foot
mounted (B3 Construction) or flange mounted (B5 Construction). Any mounting
other than these can be considered on request.
DEGREE OF PROTECTION:
Motors are suitable for IP44. However.
IP54 or IP55 can be provided on request.
